With Cypriot ancestry from his mother\u2019s side, he started out from the Greek island of Corfu at the beginning of the 19th century and advanced rapidly to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia. With the support of Czar Alexander the I, he contributed to the independence of Switzerland and Greece and prevented European powers from dismantling France following Napoleon\u2019s defeat. His liberal views bring him in opposition to his sworn enemy, Chancellor of Austria, Metternich. <\/p>\n

After the liberation of Greece from the Ottoman Empire, he is elected as the country\u2019s first Governor. <\/p>\n

Staying true to his values, he stoically faces persecution in Europe and Greece, defending the right to freedom for all with bravery, kindness and dignity. Subsequently, he also sacrifices his undying love for Roksandra Stourtza, to implement their shared vision for Freedom, Education and Culture. <\/p>\n
